South
Milford Brass led the opening of the village's new reflective garden and
provided the musical entertainment when South Milford held its first fete for
two decades. 
For
decades the two sides of Fairburn village were divided by one of the countries
busiest roads. After a campaign by villagers spanning 40 years the
Highways Agency finally decided to upgrade the A1to motorway standard from
Darrinton in West Yorkshire to Dishforth in North Yorkshire and agreed to bypass
the village of Fairburn. South Milford Brass herald the start of festivities to
mark the reuniting of the village and the opening of the bypass .
South
Milford Brass won the unregistered section of
the Yorkshire & Humberside Brass Band Association competition at Malton after not
competing for 4 years. They also received the an award for the Best
March award.
