Fairburn 29th April 2006
For decades the two sides of the village were divided by one of the countries
busiest roads. After a campaign by villagers spanning 40 years the
Highways Agency finally decided to upgrade the A1to motorway standard from Darrinton in West Yorkshire to Dishforth
in North Yorkshire and agreed to bypass the village of Fairburn. South Milford
Brass herald the start of festivities to mark the reuniting of the village and
the opening of the bypass
